Friday October 17 - Halifax, NS - Unbelievable, exciting, unmatched were the words spoken throughout the day Friday as reports were filed on a box office sell out for Canadian Show Jumping here in Halifax Nova Scotia at the Maritime Fall Fair at Exhibition Place.

33 entered horse and riders with three more still to declare, has created one of the largest fields in the history of the Kubota Cup Grand Prix to take place in Eastern Canada.

Returning 2007 winner Beth Underhill, has set her sights on a repeat win with 3 top show jumping partners. Leading the chase for the cup in the Eastern Division is Yann Candele who, with 3 entries, could hurt his own chances with Mustique if one of his other horses beats his leading partner, which in turn would open the door for Lauren Hunkin and Larry. Planning their strategy to overtake Candele is the goal for Hunkin as it would earn her the top prize; a Kubota RTV500 Utility Vehicle, an Original Oil Portrait and the invitation to participate at the $100,000 Kubota Cup National Finals November 8th.

Jay Hayes has returned in his fourth year of support for the Series and is positioned this year for a take over in the Championship should the leaders faulter. And to add even more excitement this year, rookies and veterans who have made the trek for the first time to the Maritimes has tripled over past entries.

Halifax has a revival on its hands here at the Kubota Cup Eastern Canadian Championships, one to equal the glory years of the DuMaurier Series hosted in the late 1980's, which saw sell out crowds months in advance, and it has happened again. Tickets were being scalped both on and offsite Thursday and Friday. For the price of a riding lesson, tickets were snapped up as fast as they were offered to the willing buyers.

Amazing? Not with this star studded field of high performance Grand Prix competitors. For those with tickets to the show it is recommended you arrive as early as possible to find parking availability along with time to enjoy the entire event including agricultural exhibits, cattle, sheep, chickens as well as utility dog demonstrations, western and dressage demonstrations and time to enjoy one of the finest midways the whole family can enjoy.....then sit down in your seats for the finest show jumping in Canada, starting at 7:30 pm.
